 CLUSTER APPROACH

CLUSTER SECTOR LEAD TRAINING

Informal evaluations of the Cluster approach in 2006 identified a need to provide targeted training to current and potential cluster leads on the skills, attitudes and knowledge needed to effectively lead cluster groups at the field level. Following a training needs analysis, OCHA, together with IASC partners, is developing a Cluster/Sector Lead Training Programme (CSLT).

The CSLT is targeted for current cluster leads or individuals who are on rosters to be deployed as cluster and who:

a) are experienced emergency managers – have experience in humanitarian field operations
b) are interested in and believe in the value of inter-agency collaboration and partnerships.  Ideally they will also have experience working in interagency settings and are familiar with the challenges.
c) already have demonstrated networking and interpersonal skills and leadership abilities
d) are available to be deployed as a C/S lead by their hosting global cluster agency within the next 12 months.

Each cluster nominates 2 or 4 persons to attend the CSLT.
