Advocacy for the WASH Sector in Emergencies Project Summary
The overall outcome of the project contributes towards meeting the responsibilities assigned by the Interagency Standing Committee (IASC) to global and country cluster leads for advocacy and resource mobilisation. This project is part of the WASH Cluster’s strategic framework through Strategic Area 1: WASH Cluster Co-ordination.
We can therefore describe the outcome of this specific project as: - WASH Global and Country-level Cluster Leads are better prepared to support the WASH Emergency Response in terms of advocacy at the global and country levels.
Broadly, the outputs of the project will be: Phase I (a) Advocacy - A mapping of WASH Cluster agency (including UNICEF) advocacy interventions (with results where known); the themes on which they are working; their capacity and preferred approach; and perceived gaps and outstanding needs Phase II (b) Advocacy - Based on the results of (a), a set of guidance and tools on advocacy for use primarily at country level.
The project was completed in March 2009
