IDP Protection Handbook

This Handbook, which is the result of a collaborative effort involving more than 30 human rights, humanitarian and development organizations, provides legal and operational guidance on protection in complex emergencies, in particular in situations of internal displacement. It could also prove useful for protection efforts in other humanitarian settings.

In order to the ensure that the Handbook provides comprehensive, consistent and accurate legal and operational guidance the PCWG will facilitate consultations and field-testing on the Handbook in the course of 2008. Experts and practioners, including protection working groups in field operations, are encouraged to review and use the Handbook in their work. Any comments and suggestions are welcome and can be shared with us at HQIDPHB@unhcr.org. For further information about the consultation and field-testing process please click here.
